The Woking Walk-in Centre is a nurse led (nurse practitioners) service with no on-site medical back up
Who can be seen:
- Non-pregnant adults
- Children over 2 years with minor acute injuries (within 4 weeks) or minor illnesses
- X-rays, but only limbs: shoulder out and knee down
- Can prescribe or supply antibiotics where indicated for minor illness
- Can refer to some outpatient clinics, including Fracture Clinic for new fractures, Eye Clinic, ENT, Max Fax, Burns
- Can refer into secondary care when needed for urgent problems
We DO NOT see:
- Pregnant adults
- Children under 2 years of age
- Head injuries in any age, with altered neurology or history of loss of consciousness
- Over 65s with more than one injury from a fall
- Over 65s with a head injury when on anticoagulants
- Requests for bloods
- Two-week rule referrals
- Routine dressings/complex wound care
- Prescribing or supply of antibiotics if patient’s history is too complex
